Race Director, David Scott
A veteran of multi-day desert events ranging from 150 miles to 300 miles Dave is the founder of Sandbaggers and the Race Director of Gobi Challenge.  He has a love for the outdoors in all its forms and is a keen scuba-diver, mountain biker, multi-day wilderness-walker and kayaker.  2008 will be his 5th Gobi challenge and 6th Sandbaggers event.  He prides himself on keeping race numbers small and cultural interchange big on all of his trips

 

   

 

Medical Team, Kit McKinlay
Kit has supplied medical cover to numerous outdoor events and formed part of the medical team on Gobi Challenges 2006 and 2007.  An indispensable member of our crew she brings a wealth of experience from a colourful career spent in the Royal Navy and hospital wards throughout the UK.  Her exceptionally bubbly, friendly and supportive nature is a consistent source of strength to many on our trips.  Kit has a strong passion for the outdoors and is a keen mountaineer.

 
     
 
Medical Team, Scott Graham
Scott is a very experienced wilderness technician who has led a varied career.  A former Royal Marine he is now a lecturer in Sports Science who consults to the MoD on, amongst other things, load carriage.  Scott played a founding role in Elite Training Solutions, the much respected physical training company (www.elite-training.co.uk).  He has led numerous mountaineering expeditions, arctic trips and in 2000 completed the Marathon des Sables. Scott provided medical backup on Gobi Challenges 2005, 2006 and 2007.  During our time in the desert he is responsible for all health and safety briefings and runs informative nightly foot clinics.  If you see someone peering at you while you go to the toilet don’t be alarmed, Scott is a very ‘in your face’ checker of hydration levels!
 
     
 

Camp Manager 2008, Raudy Lockhart
Raudy will be our camp manager on Gobi Challenge 2008 with responsibility for the smooth striking, pitching and maintenance of camp.  He will also play a role in filming footage for the event DVD.  Raudy will be directly responsible for the maintenance of camp morale, a task he will approach seriously.
 
   
Head of Mongolian Operations, Ulan Bator, Banzragch Enkhtuya
Enkhtuya has been with us from the beginning and oversees the Mongolian side of the operation.  Enkhtuya grew up in the Gobi desert and now raises her family in Mongolia’s capital, Ulan Bator.  Enkhtuya will be the first face you see when you arrive in Ulan Bator. 

   
Head of Transport, Tume
Tume has also been with us from the beginning and has responsibility for maintaining our vehicles and drivers in top condition.  Tume is a lifelong resident of South Gobi province and provides an essential link between our team and the nomads of the area.
   
Company Secretary, Julie Scott
Julie is a veteran of the Sandbaggers Great Victoria Desert Challenge 2001 and formed part of our original reccie of the Gobi.  Family commitments prevent her travelling with us in 2008 but she will be the point of contact in our UK office during the event.
       
   
Phil Briggs
The former Royal Marine will function as a search and rescue consultant and medic during our time in the Gobi.  Phil has spent most of his adult life taking to the mountains and has served on Mountain Rescue Teams in Scotland for the last eight years.  He also holds vast experience in the desert environment.
         
     
Bob

Physio, Bob Campbell
Bob is a veteran runner and fell runner who has been running competitively for almost 50 years.  A two times Gobi vet, Bob won the first ever Bayan bag to Tohum bag marathon – a record he held for two years.  Bob has provided physio cover to many events including Gobi Challenge and British Ultra.

Keith Flood, Equipment Testing and Development
Keith, an ex Royal Naval Physical Training Instructor has been affiliated with Sandbaggers since 2005 focusing primarily on the development and improvement of our custom made sand gaiters.  A veteran of numerous desert ultras and endurance events he is a well known face on the ultra scene with a genuine passion for helping others to realise their ambitions.  Keith vigorously tests all our developed equipment ensuring we produce only the highest quality goods for use on desert trips.  He also performs the important task of field testing all the expedition foods we hold in stock ensuring everything we offer is fit for task.  Keith will be racing on Gobi Challenge 2011.
